Mini Golf

One of the benefits that we got with our Disney tickets was a round of Mini Golf. Great way to start the day.  I usually win at this - most people don't know this but I once worked at a miniature golf course during the summer when I was 14. I guess you could say I was a miniature golf pro. The thing that I found was that you half to keep doing something in order to stay good. Either that or I just had an off day. Truthfully the day went to Megan. Two hole in ones in a row put her out in a distant first.

This is Disney miniature golf so we arrived at the Golf Course to find that we were given a tee time. Having an hour to burn we decided to investigate the Swan hotel which was right next door. We were quite impressed.

A little more waiting and then we were called to the tee.

After the round of golf we were so impressed with The Swan that we walked over to the Dolphin - equally impressed and soaked because the rain came - again!

This picture was taken under a lobby chandler at the Dolphin. It was taken by Emily Grace who has just decided that she wants to be a photographer.

After golf we returned home and Emily Grace wanted to continue the storm interrupted water park day at Blizzard Beach. There were no other takers so Emily and I shared an afternoon alone. I had no waterproof camera so all of the pictures are posed on the the way out.

When we got home Emily Grace took this picture from our rental house back yard. She thought this was a beautiful sunset and wanted to put her photography skill to work. I think the sunset is beautiful and so is she. I love the time we spend together.

Blizzard Beach

So this morning Emily, Addison, and I decided to start our day at our day at the Disney waterpark at Blizzard Beach. We did a few rides and attraction and the day was off to a great start. Thanks to Addison for all of the Photography today. You might notice that her phone has by far the best of the family.

Our day was cut short by those words familiar to anyone who has been to an amusement park . . .  "Ladies and Gentlemen may I have your attention. Due to in-climate weather in the area we ask that everyone . . . A quick look at the radar showed an all clear at about 3:00 PM so we left.

Wilderness Lodge

Not many plans today but we did have a lunch appointment at Wilderness Lodge.

Wilderness Lodge was built when Disney thought through everything. More details than you can imagine and everything has serious meaning. This hotel was built with 13 loads of logs that were shipped from the Northwest. It is awesome.

Head dress made from turkey feathers.

This chimney was made from rock from different layers encountered in the Northwest.

This is the train room. It is in the Disney Vacation Club and I would not have known about it had I not seen it on the internet. The room is fascinating.

This is two actual cars from Walt Disney's backyard train. The photo below shows the train in use (pardon the reflection on the class.

A model of the train that the first train at Disney world was built to resemble.

We saw some friends hanging out near the fireplace.

Next we ate at the Whispering Canyon Cafe.

Ok - so this is big. I had been looking for a milkshake since we got to Florida. Not only did I find a milkshake but it came with my meal and was bottomless. This was not the only milkshake that I saw during this meal.

I use to go to conference at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel every year. It was always a highlight. Gaylord built another hotel in Orlando. We wanted see what they had built here. Addison went with us and we simply looked around. Remember - everything you see is INDOORS under a large dome. It is impressive to say the least. It is adjacent to Disney property - Disney better up their game.
