Bryce Canyon

Brice Canyon is the top tread on the Grand Staircase (Bryce, Zion, and The Grand Canyon). Today it is our focus.

We start it off with a new speed limit record.

It is believed that the model for the Paramount Picture Logo is about 200 miles away (still in Utah). This mountain looks just like it to me.

We came across this very quaint and nice town of Pangutch, Utah.

At some point we came upon this mountain. You can see it is black soil on one side and red on the other. Once we pass this point, everything looked like we were headed into Radiator Springs.

We arrived at our destination.

This would be our hike for today a loop between Sunrise Point and Sunset Point. Addison rolled her ankle yesterday on the trip through the Narrows, so she waited out this particular hike.

The hike was just over 3 miles. What we did not know at the time was that the last .5 miles was straight up. You might notice the switchbacks below us - that’s how we got up.

Even though Addison did not hike with us today, we wanted to make sure that she had the opportunity to experience the view.

This information sign tells about a guy who was taken with Bryce Canyon. He thought others might be taken with it as well. He was a true entrepreneur. The photos that follow show the fruits of his labor today. I have a heart for people like him.

We were back on the road again, but it wouldn’t take long before Emily Grace felt the exertion of the hard hiking behind us.
