Disneyland

Today was another Disney day, it began in Disneyland, and, as always, we hop back-and-forth. It is much easier thing to do here at Disney in California because there’s very little space between parks.

A couple of observations about Disneyland versus Disney World. I had always heard that Disneyland was a smaller park, but I had no idea of the difference in scale. Disney world in Florida is massive, in fact, there is no comparison between Disneyland and Disney World. The tram drivers often make comment at Disney World about the fact that Disneyland could fit comfortably in the parking lot of Magic Kingdom, but until you actually experience it, you don’t realize just how small Disneyland is by comparison. Disney’s California adventure is smaller yet. So, the entire Disneyland operation in California (parks, parking lots, administration, hotels, Downtown Disney, and infrastructure) all fits inside the actual park at Animal Kingdom in Florida - which is admittedly, a huge park). As a result, Disneyland gets much more crowded much more quickly. Perhaps it is because we were here on the weekend or perhaps it’s because it is the Fourth of July weekend or perhaps both but Disneyland in particular felt very crowded. We were able to move around and we were able to ride any rides that we wanted to because of Genie Plus. We also were able to get whatever food we wanted with mobile ordering as long as we thought ahead. We are very well versed at both. Thanks to Megan (who is a master at navigating us) we almost never stood in a line except for a few attractions, which did not offer Genie Plus.

Other than the striking difference in scale, we found some of the attractions that are not available at Disney World to be extraordinary. Most specifically, Indiana Jones in Disneyland and Cars Land in Disney’s California Adventure. Both are great attractions and hopefully one day will make great additions to the parks at Disney World in Florida.

Here are a few pictures of our day:

Never forget the snacks.

This photo was taken to show how easy it is to park hop in California. I was standing at the gate at California Adventure and the photo is of the gate to Disneyland.
