Grand Canyon

This morning we went on a two hour trek to the Grand Canyon North Rim.

This is the hotel, which really consist of a whole bunch of mini cabins. However, the entire hotel and much of the operation at the north rim has not been operating this year because of a water main break.

Finally, we got our first glimpse of the Grand Canyon, and no matter how many times we have seen it on film and in pictures, when we saw it in person, we were overwhelmed.

This is the view from the back of the hotel.

This is the rim itself.

I love sharing these times with this woman. Simply the love of my life.

This is the backside of the hotel.

Relaxing after a picnic on the North Rim.

This is the snack bar at the North Rim and the picture of Teddy Roosevelt is relevant because he hung out in this area during a difficult time of his life. Later, when Roosevelt became president, one of his primary goals was preserve this “Grand Canyon” - thus came legislation establishing our national parks.

The other girls were still tired from yesterday’s hike. Therefore these two girls would take on a hike for today.

I took this picture because we were surprised that the Grand Canyon was not in the mountains. The canyon fell right in the middle of this plane.

On the way back, Megan, again not feel well. We stopped our travel so that she could have some time to walk around we stopped at the Pipe Springs National Monument. It tells the story and history of the Paiute Indians and their history.
