Zion

We tried Zion again and we made it. No words can describe and the pictures will not capture the beauty nor the scale of this creation.

Even the parking lot has a majestic backdrop.

Zion has become to popular for everyone to drive from place to place - so we ride a shuttle to our starting place. Emerald Pools Trail.

A few photos at the trail head and then we were off.

My plan, as a rule, is to only take pictures that include our family on this blog because there are many better, more professional pictures on the Internet of almost everywhere that we go. However, the views are so picturesque in every direction that you just break. So there are some photos included that I just couldn’t refuse - and though it doesn’t do the scenery justice, it helps to jog our memory of the extraordinary.

I took this picture because it reminded me that we are, in fact, in the desert. Because we got an early start on the day and thus gentle temperatures to begin our walk, we would finish this hike in 103° sunshine.

This is Emily Grace posing with the first of three pools on this hike.

Addison re-affirms her animal whisperer with this squirrel.

We got to the end of the trail and a bridge had been knocked out by a recent flood. We had two choices walk back, 2 miles or so over difficult terrain or cross the river somehow. This is us doing the latter.

Another example of the diversity of this park. This is believed to be the oldest tree in the park it is certainly well over 100 years old. It occupies part of the front yard of the historic Zion Park Hotel.

When it was all said and done, we were all amazed with this part of creation. Yes, we were hot and tired, but still happy and grateful for the adventure.

After a period of rest, only three of want to dinner at The Stage Coach Grille.
