Mental Preparations

Once a year Megan and I take a weekend to renew ourselves and our marriage. This year we went for 3 days to Myrtle Beach, thanks to mom and dad who kept Emily Grace and Jennifer Kolb who kept Olivia and Addison. We spent quality time together and even took naps (first since Emily Grace was born). We soaked everything in and enjoyed the rest and relaxation because we knew the next vacation at Disney would be fun for all of us but the pace would be much different.

We had tried to eat at "The Farm House" several times before at Myrtle Beach but could never get in because of the crowed. Since it was just the two of us we got there early and got a table after about 45 minutes. It was a great time with fried chicken, mashed potatoes (the best either of us had ever had), Mac and cheese, homemade biscuits, gravy, country ham, green beans cooked forever, strawberry shortcake, a vast array of fruits and vegetables and a bunch of other stuff that I don't like - all lined up on old country stoves where you just serve yourself.

We ate surrounded by antiques and memorabilia from the host family ( who lived upstairs) and were serenaded by an antique self-playing piano which was eventually interrupted by the owner who played and sang a few country songs for us. The piano took over again - after having the roll of songs replaced - this time playing Disney songs. It made us talk about our upcoming trip.

A nice relaxing dinner with my wife (my favorite person to spend time with and have conversation with). Then we stopped at Krispie Kreme because I don't like strawberry short cake. They were as good as you always imagine they are going to be. I really love my wife - it was a great evening.
